The dead bodies of two 7th-class girl students wearing school uniforms were found hanging from a tree inside Biliguda forest under Motu police limits in Malkangiri district.
The deceased girls have been identified as Jyoti Haldar (13), daughter of Tinar Haldar of MV 74 village and Mandira Sodi (13), daughter of Baga Sodi of MV 126 village. Both were studying at MV 72 Nodal Primary School.
As per reports, last Thursday, they did not return home after coming to school. Their family searched for them everywhere, but could not find them. Hence, Mandira Sodi’s mother Mamata Sodhi filed a complaint at MV 79 police station on Friday.
This morning, some locals came to the forest below the Biliguda village hill to collect firewood and found the bodies of the two girls hanging from a tree. They informed their families about this.
After receiving the information, the police along with the MV 79 PS and Motu PS teams along with Malkangiri SDPO Sachin Patel reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.
A case has been registered by the police in this regard and after the scientific team arrives from Koraput, the dead bodies of the two students from the incident site will be sent to Kalimela Community Health Center for autopsy. After the autopsy, the bodies will be handed over to the family, police sources said.
