An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on the Richter Scale struck Siwan, Bihar at 08:02 IST on Monday.
This followed a similar magnitude quake that hit parts of Delhi-NCR at 05:36 IST earlier in the day.
The National Centre for Seismology reported that the Bihar earthquake had a depth of 10 km, while the Delhi-NCR quake had its epicentre in New Delhi at a depth of 5 km. No immediate reports of damage or injuries have been received for either event.
The tremors in Delhi-NCR caused residents of several high-rise buildings to rush outside in panic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged residents to stay calm and follow safety protocols.
