In a heart-wrenching road accident on National Highway 326 near Podagada Kanyashram, a father and his son lost their lives while their teenage nephew was critically injured.
The mishap occurred when a bike collided head-on with a truck, resulting in the bike bursting into flames at the site.
The deceased has been identified as Kailash Khara (30) of Tikra Sahi in Koraput, and his four-year-old son, Anish. Their 16-year-old nephew, Aman Reddy, was accompanying them to a temple near Chanabada village in Dashmanthpur block. He sustained severe injuries and was initially rushed to Podagada Medical and later shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College, Koraput, for advanced treatment.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the collision took place when Kailash’s bike crashed into a truck returning from a Bolbam pilgrimage near Gupteswar. The intensity of the impact led to the bike catching fire instantly. Shockingly, the van driver reportedly fled the scene following the accident.
Local police have seized the involved vehicle and initiated a probe under the Koraput Sadar Police Station, with officer Runu Majhi leading the investigation. Meanwhile, the bodies of the father and son were sent for post-mortem examination.
