In a gesture blending tradition with governance, Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati offered ‘Dahi-Chini’ — curd and sugar — to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Bhavan today, moments before the presentation of the Odisha Budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the state Legislative Assembly.
The age-old customary ritual, symbolising good fortune and prosperity, is traditionally performed before important undertakings.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Majhi, who also holds the Finance portfolio, briefed Governor Kambhampati on the broad outline and key priorities of the upcoming budget proposals.
Later, inside the Assembly, CM Majhi formally presented copies of the general budget 2026-27 to Speaker Surama Padhy and Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi.
Thereafter, the Chief Minister rose to present the full Odisha Budget 2026-27 before the House, marking the official tabling of the state’s financial roadmap for the coming fiscal year.
