A tragic incident occurred in Kala village under Barakot police limits, where a TPWODL electricity worker died after coming in contact with a live wire during repair work.
The deceased has been identified as Tuna Sahu of Dharampur village under Riamal police station, who was working as a helper with the power distribution company. While climbing an electric pole to carry out maintenance, he was electrocuted and fell to the ground.
He was rushed to Bamparada Hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The incident sparked tension in the area, with locals demanding compensation for the bereaved family. Debagada MLA Romaanch Ranjan Biswal reached the hospital soon after and held discussions with residents and electricity department officials regarding relief measures.
Authorities have assured that necessary steps will be taken to support the victim’s family.
