Three Naxalites, each with a bounty of Rs 5 lakh, surrendered on Monday in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district.
The cadres, including two women, were allegedly involved in multiple attacks and turned themselves in before senior police officials, influenced by the government’s rehabilitation policy.
The surrendered Naxalites, identified as Dilip Kumar alias Santu, Manju Lata alias Lakshmi, and Sunita alias Junki, were handed over cheques of Rs 25,000 each and will be rehabilitated as per government policy. Dilip Kumar surrendered with his automatic rifle.
The trio, active in Gadiaband’s Udanti Sita River Navapuda Dhamtari division, participated in a recent encounter at Kulhadi Ghat, where 16 hardcore Naxals were killed.
This surrender follows a recent trend, with 11 Naxalites, including seven women, surrendering in Narayanpur district three days ago, carrying a cumulative reward of Rs 40 lakh.
