Ramachandi police arrested Chhabina Kandi (35), the third accused in the brutal murder of transgender Anjali, after 22 days on the run.
Officers found him hiding in a hut near Barapada village under Ramachandi police station limits.
Station officer Bichitra Nanda Parida led the raid based on a tip-off and captured Chhabina. Police handed him over to Pipili police, who are investigating the case.
Earlier, police arrested Krishna Kandi (25), the main accused, near Nayara petrol pump on the Pipili-Bhubaneswar bypass, 11 days after the murder. Within 24 hours, they picked up Sunil Kandi alias Geja (22) from Mathasahi under Konark police station.
Reports said the trio snatched Anjali’s vanity bag, sparking a scuffle. They then allegedly stabbed her to death in a brutal attack. With Chhabina’s arrest, all three suspects are now in custody, and Pipili police continue their investigation.
