A terrorist was killed and three Indian Army personnel were injured during an intense encounter in the Guddar forest area of Kulgam district on Monday.
The operation was launched following specific intelligence provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. A joint team comprising the Indian Army, J&K Police, and CRPF initiated a search in the dense forest region. According to the Chinar Corps, vigilant troops noticed suspicious movement and challenged the individuals, prompting the terrorists to open fire.
In the ensuing gunbattle, one terrorist was neutralized while a junior commissioned officer and two other soldiers sustained injuries. Security officials believe that two to three terrorists may still be hiding in the area, and additional forces have been deployed to continue the operation.
The encounter underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region, where militant activity remains a persistent threat.
