Seven civilians, including a woman and two children, lost their lives as the Pakistan Army launched heavy artillery and mortar shelling on villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir.

The shelling injured 38 others, with the worst-hit district being Poonch, where all fatalities occurred.

Reports indicate that ten civilians sustained injuries in Uri sector and three in Rajouri district. The Indian Army retaliated swiftly, engaging in counter-shelling after Pakistan’s ceasefire violations. This attack followed India’s recent missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, further intensifying regional hostilities.

The escalating violence comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a strategic military response by India targeting terrorist infrastructure. As the situation unfolds, officials urge civilians in the affected areas to exercise caution while diplomatic efforts continue to mitigate tensions.
