Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday carried out simultaneous raids on the residence and properties of SI Abhimanyu Chaudhury on charges of acquisition and possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Reportedly, Abhimanyu Chaudhury is posted as SI at Tamando police station.
On the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets by the accused officer, simultaneous house searches are being conducted at three places in Bhubaneswar, including the station officer’s office and a four-storey building in Paikanagar area, said sources.
According to sources, the vigilance team led by three Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP), 11 Inspectors, six Assistant Sub-Inspector(ASI) (ASIs), and other staff are conducting the searches.
During house searches so far, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of the accused officer and his family members;
1) One four-storeyed building at Unit-18 Paiknagar, Bhubaneswar with about 10,000 sqft built up area. The valuation appears to be about Rs.1.5 crore. However, Technical team of Odisha Vigilance is carrying out measurements to assess the value.
2) One single storeyed building at Nachhipur, PS-Ranpur, Dist-Nayagarh.
3) 8 plots including 7 plots in prime area in and around Bhubaneswar and 1 plot in Nichhipur, Dist-Nayagarh.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the plots is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.
4) Bank deposits approx Rs.78.80 Lakhs.
5) Cash over Rs.1.75 Lakh.
6) 3 two wheelers.
