The Symphony of India Challenge, a prestigious musical event, continues to captivate audiences at the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Mumbai.
This grand challenge is spotlighting the finest musical talents across India, with an impressive 212 musicians initially registering and the top 80 advancing to the Gala Round.
The WAVES Summit, held from May 1-4, 2025, at the Jio World Convention Centre & Jio World Gardens, aims to unite the global Media and Entertainment (M&E) sector, focusing on four key pillars: Broadcasting & Infotainment, AVGC-XR, Digital Media & Innovation, and Films.
The Symphony of India Challenge, part of the Broadcasting and Infotainment pillar, invites the public to enjoy a diverse array of musical performances spanning various genres. Participants underwent a rigorous selection process, submitting audition material online. The best 40-50 musicians were shortlisted, forming the competition’s core.
The competition progresses through semi-final and final rounds, with the entire process broadcast as a 26-episode series on Doordarshan and its regional channels. The event features a celebrity jury, regional judges, and mentors of international repute, including renowned musicians like Taufiq Qureshi, Ronu Majumdar, and Rakesh Chaurasia.
Musicians perform both solo and in groups, creating original music and recreating traditional folk songs. The final top 3 teams, each comprising 10 musicians, will form the mega symphony and showcase their talents on the WAVES platform.
The Symphony of India Challenge aims to push creativity and innovation in music, fostering a sense of community and growth among musicians while celebrating India’s musical heritage on a global stage.
