Sword terror resurfaced in Bhubaneswar as miscreants launched a group attack on a youth in Tarini Basti under Bharatpur police station limits.
The victim, identified as Dusasan Nayak, sustained serious injuries after being chased and assaulted with swords.
Reports said a dispute erupted between Dusasan and a group of youths over previous enmity. The attackers cornered him and struck repeatedly with swords, leaving deep wounds on his back, ear, and hand. Locals rushed him to Capital Hospital, where doctors admitted him for treatment.
The incident triggered panic in the area as residents witnessed the brutal assault. Police from Bharatpur station reached the spot soon after receiving information and began an investigation.
Authorities confirmed that the attack stemmed from an old rivalry and assured strict action against those involved. The case has reignited concerns about rising sword violence in the capital city.
Residents demanded stronger policing and surveillance to prevent the recurrence of such violent incidents. Police teams are working to identify and apprehend the attackers.
