Boeing’s Starliner test mission turned into a nine-month space stay for NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore.
Now, after weeks of rigorous rehabilitation, the duo has completed their physical recovery and resumed work with NASA and Boeing.
The astronauts returned to Earth in March following an extended mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Their return required extensive rehabilitation to readjust their muscles, balance, and other bodily functions affected by prolonged exposure to microgravity. Over 45 days, they engaged in intensive strength and conditioning therapy under NASA’s medical experts.
Despite the challenges, both Williams and Wilmore are now back to fulfilling their commitments with NASA’s space station programs and Boeing’s Starliner project. “It’s been a whirlwind, but we’re excited to be back contributing to future missions,” Williams shared in an interview.
NASA and Boeing continue assessing Starliner’s capabilities for future crewed missions, ensuring a safer and more efficient spacecraft experience.
