The Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar buzzed with energy today as hundreds of citizens pedalled their way to promote fitness, health, and social unity during the “Sundays on Cycle” event.

Organised by the Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India and the Odisha Cycling Association, the event marked the culmination of a three-day celebration of National Sports Day from August 29 to 31.

The cycle rally, flagged off by Sports and Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, saw enthusiastic participation from people of all ages. The event aimed to inspire an active lifestyle while aligning with the vision of the Fit India Movement. Similar rallies were held across various districts of Odisha, reflecting widespread public enthusiasm.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Suraj emphasised the importance of fitness in daily life. “National Sports Day is not only a tribute to our sporting icons but also a reminder for every citizen to embrace fitness and well-being,” he said. “Through today’s cycle rally, we are encouraging everyone to remain active and healthy. To build a fit and healthy Odisha, activities like yoga, exercise, and cycling should become a part of our daily routine.”
