Police arrested five individuals in Sundargarh district in connection with multiple liquor-related cases and seized more than 800 bottles during a major crackdown.

The accused were produced before the Hon’ble Court on Wednesday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Goutam Sahu, Chatrabhuja Sahu, Mukesh Behera, Bhimsen Sahu, and Banamali Behera, all residents of Kinjirikela village. Police confirmed that the arrests were linked to PS Case Nos. 97/26, 98/26, 99/26, 100/26, and 101/26.

During the operation, police confiscated 433 bottles and cans of beer along with 398 bottles of whisky and vodka of various brands. Officials described the seizure as one of the largest in recent months, reflecting intensified efforts to curb the illegal liquor trade in the region.

Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify others involved in the racket. Police sources emphasised that strict action will continue against those engaged in illegal liquor activities.
