Odisha Vigilance arrested Arupa Nanda Das, Assistant Sub-Inspector at Badagaon Police Station in Sundargarh, for accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a dhaba owner.
Officials caught Das while taking money to help the eatery owner in a case and allowed him to run his business smoothly. Vigilance registered Rourkela Vigilance PS Case No. 1/11.03.2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. He is being forwarded to court today.
Soon after the trap, Vigilance teams searched four locations linked to Das. They seized Rs 3,31,316 in cash from his government quarters in Bhubaneswar and Badagaon. Investigators also recovered foreign currencies from Vietnam and Nepal.
Officials confirmed that Das visited Vietnam in May last year. His possession of foreign currency has raised further questions about his financial dealings.
