Police arrested Sagar Oram in Sundaragada on July 17 after he attacked his brother-in-law with an axe during a drunken quarrel.
The incident occurred in Badkhalia village when Sagar, visiting from Chhattisgarh, consumed alcohol with his brother-in-law Ratan Lal Oram. Heated arguments escalated, and Sagar struck Ratan’s back with an axe, leaving a six-inch deep wound.
Ratan is currently battling for life at the district headquarters hospital. His uncle, Ritesh Oram, lodged a written complaint at Lefripoda police station. Acting swiftly, police registered Case No. 204 and charged Sagar under Sections 296/109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused was produced in court today.
Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing while the victim remains in critical condition.
