Eminent sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a striking sand sculpture on Puri Beach to pay tribute to the Indian Women’s Cricket Team for their historic 2025 ICC World Cup victory.
The artwork proudly bears the message “Congrats! Bharat ki Nari Shakti”, celebrating the power, determination and resilience of Indian women who have secured their maiden World Cup title.
At the centre of Pattnaik’s creation stands a 6-foot-long sand bat, sculpted from nearly five tonnes of sand and adorned with several cricket balls. The design symbolises the team’s unity, dedication and collective spirit, which carried them to their memorable championship win over South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Speaking about his creation, Pattnaik said the sculpture is a tribute not only to the players but also to every Indian woman who continues to inspire through strength and perseverance.
“Our women’s cricket team has made the nation proud. This artwork celebrates their dedication and the growing power of Indian women in sport and beyond,” Pattnaik said.
The sand artwork has drawn large crowds and widespread admiration from both locals and tourists, turning Puri Beach into a focal point of national celebration and pride.
