Stray Kids member Lee Know has extended support to families affected by the devastating floods in Nepal, donating 100 million won (around US$72,600 or approximately ₹64 lakh) through World Vision.
The K-pop star made the donation on August 28 and requested that the funds be used for immediate relief as well as livelihood assistance for families whose lives have been severely disrupted by the floods.
Lee Know shares message for Nepal flood victims
Speaking through his agency JYP Entertainment, Lee Know expressed hope that his contribution would offer some comfort to those dealing with the aftermath of the disaster.
“I hope my support can offer a little strength to those going through this difficult time,” Lee Know said, according to a translation cited by The Chosun Daily.
He also expressed his hope that people affected by the floods, as well as those involved in rescue and relief operations, would be able to return to normal life soon.
World Vision plans to use the donation to assist families displaced by the floods. The support will include food, temporary shelter, clean water and basic sanitation, along with livelihood assistance.
Lee Know’s long association with charity
The donation is part of Lee Know’s longstanding involvement with charitable causes. He has reportedly sponsored children through World Vision since 2014.
In 2024, he donated another 100 million won through the organisation to support efforts addressing the global food crisis.
The singer also made two separate donations of 100 million won each on his birthday last year. One contribution went to Samsung Medical Center in Seoul to support patients with serious illnesses, while the other was given to cat rescue organisation Nabiya Saranghae for the treatment and care of abandoned cats.
Stray Kids continue global activities
Lee Know’s donation comes as Stray Kids remain busy with their international music commitments.
The group released its EP This & That on August 7, which, according to the report, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
The group is also currently on its Run It world tour, which began at Seoul’s KSPO Dome on July 25.
Nepal floods leave thousands in need
Lee Know’s contribution comes as Nepal continues to grapple with the devastating impact of flash floods.
According to the information provided, around 10,000 households require immediate humanitarian assistance. The death toll has reportedly risen to at least 800, while more than 3,000 people remain unaccounted for.
Nepal’s foreign ministry said 886 people had been rescued, with search-and-rescue operations continuing across affected areas. Around 400 foreign nationals are among those reported missing.
Fresh flood alerts have also been issued in parts of Nepal following rising water levels in the Bhotekoshi River. Authorities have warned of a high risk of flash floods in areas including Nuwakot and Rasuwa.
As rescue teams continue their operations, contributions such as Lee Know’s are expected to provide essential assistance to families struggling to recover from the disaster.
