All schools in Odisha’s Baragada district will remain closed today in view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall and the issuance of a red warning.
The District Education Office issued an order directing that all schools across the district suspend classes for the day. The precautionary measure was taken to ensure student safety amid adverse weather conditions and the possibility of heavy downpour.
Officials said the closure applies to government, aided, and private schools at all levels. The administration has urged parents and guardians to keep children indoors and follow official advisories until weather conditions improve.
The decision highlights Odisha’s proactive response to IMD alerts, prioritising safety while preparing for potential disruptions caused by the monsoon system.
