The State Election Commission (SEC), Odisha, has initiated preparations for the 2027 Panchayat and Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, signalling the start of the poll process.
In an official communication dated July 6, 2026, the SEC directed all Collectors and District Magistrates to attend a video conference on July 21, 2026, at 11:30 AM via the OSWAN platform. The meeting will review the Door-to-Door (D2D) survey for updating electoral rolls and discuss the clearance of pending DC bills and utilisation certificates related to the 2022 ULB elections.
The conference will be chaired by the State Election Commissioner and will include participation from Additional District Magistrates, EROs, AEROs, and senior officials from district administrations. The SEC emphasised the importance of accurate voter data collection and timely financial compliance to ensure smooth conduct of the upcoming elections.
Officials will also assess the progress of preparatory activities for both Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The meeting aims to streamline coordination between field officers and election authorities across Odisha.
The directive marks the first major administrative step toward the 2027 local elections, setting the stage for comprehensive electoral planning and execution.
