Elon Musk’s satellite internet service Starlink suffered a significant outage on Sunday, leaving tens of thousands of users without connectivity across the United States.
According to DownDetector, a platform that tracks service disruptions, over 49,300 users reported problems at the peak of the outage. Around 60% of users said they faced slow or no internet connectivity, while 40% reported a total blackout.
States and Cities Affected
Reports came in from multiple states, including Arizona, Utah, Nevada, New Jersey, and more. The outage map highlighted major cities such as Seattle, San Francisco, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, and St. Louis as the worst affected.
Service Restoration Underway
Since the peak, the number of reports has dropped significantly. As of Monday morning, around 20,000 users were still facing connectivity issues, indicating partial restoration of the network.
Global Footprint
Starlink, which is licensed and operational in over 100 countries and territories worldwide as of mid-2025, has not issued an official statement yet about the cause of the outage.
