Sri Lanka stormed to their second victory of the T20 World Cup 2026 with a commanding 105-run win over Oman in Group B at Kandy.

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a massive 225-5, the highest total of the tournament so far. Pavan Rathnayake blasted 60 off 28 balls, Kusal Mendis anchored with 61 off 45, and captain Dasun Shanaka stole the show with a record-breaking 19-ball fifty. Shanaka’s knock included two fours and five sixes, surpassing his own previous fastest fifty for Sri Lanka in T20Is.

Oman faltered in reply, managing only 120-9. Veteran Muhammad Nadeem top-scored with an unbeaten 53, while Wasim Ali added 27. Sri Lanka’s bowlers kept control, with Maheesh Theekshana returning figures of 2-11.

Sri Lanka, who beat Ireland in their opener, now sit firmly on top of Group B with two wins. They face Australia next in Kandy on Monday. Oman, suffering their second defeat, will look to bounce back against Ireland in Colombo on Saturday.
