Balasore: A Class IX girl was allegedly attacked by a spurned lover at Tuta village under Khaira block in Balasore district.
The accused has been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Dash from the same village.
According to available information, the youth proposed to the girl for love. However, the girl rejected his proposal. Meanwhile, her family also rebuked the youth to refrain from disturbing the girl.
Reportedly, the incident took place while the girl was on her way to attend tuition classes when the youth attacked the girl with a sharp weapon.
On hearing the girl’s scream, locals rushed to the spot and shifted to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and launched a probe in this regard.
Though, the reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. It is suspected that the boy might have attacked over rejection.
