Odisha is set to make history as it prepares to host the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze for the first time at the iconic Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on August 10, 2025.
On Friday, Odisha Sports Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj conducted a comprehensive review of the preparations, underscoring the state’s commitment to delivering an impeccable global sporting experience. “Hosting the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze in Odisha for the first time is a matter of immense pride. We are fully prepared to organise it successfully,” the Minister stated.
The review meeting highlighted key areas including high-grade infrastructure, hospitality coordination, athlete safety, crowd control and security deployment. More than 200 athletes from 19 countries are expected to participate across 20 track and field events.
The Minister assured that the Sports and Youth Services Department is coordinating all logistical and administrative aspects to ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament. He also expressed confidence in Odisha’s athletes, adding that their performances will once again bring pride to the state.
The meeting was attended by top officials and stakeholders, including Shri Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav (Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Sports and Youth Services Department), Dr. Yedulla Vijay (Director), Shri Narasingha Bhol (Additional Commissioner of Police), Shri Deepankar Mahapatra (CEO, Hockey Promotion Council), Shri Bijay Kumar Swain and Shri Ashok Kumar Panda (Additional Secretaries).
As Odisha continues to cement its reputation as India’s emerging sports capital, the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze is poised to mark another milestone in its journey.
