A man lost his life in a road accident while transporting his father’s body home for cremation in Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, 65-year-old Gopabandhu Nayak of Mituani village had been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after suffering chest pain due to high blood pressure. He passed away during treatment.
His son, Shubh, was accompanying the body in an ambulance en route to their native village in Thakurmunda block. Near Madhapur, Shubh stepped out of the vehicle to fetch water when he was hit by a speeding pickup van. He sustained multiple fractures in his legs and arm.
Shubh was rushed to Jajpur Road Hospital and later referred to SCB Hospital as his condition worsened. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.
The double tragedy has left the family and local community in deep shock. Police have launched an investigation into the accident and are working to identify the vehicle involved.
