Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha faced intense backlash from RJD supporters during polling in Lakhisarai constituency, where his convoy was surrounded and attacked.
Supporters of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) hurled slippers, pelted stones, and chanted “Murdabad” slogans as they blocked Sinha’s entry into Khoriari village. Police personnel were present at the scene but struggled to contain the crowd.
Sinha, who is contesting from Lakhisarai on a BJP ticket, accused RJD of orchestrating the attack. He claimed that his polling agent was denied entry at booths 404 and 405 and alleged voter intimidation. “These are RJD goons. NDA is coming to power, and they can’t handle it,” he said.
The incident occurred while Sinha attempted to visit the village during voting hours. Visuals from the site showed heavy police deployment and agitated locals. The Deputy CM insisted that despite the disruption, he would win the seat.
Meanwhile, RJD leaders alleged police brutality in Muslim-dominated areas, accusing officers of entering homes and assaulting voters. The party demanded an inquiry into the conduct of security forces during polling.
The Election Commission has been informed of the incident. Authorities are reviewing security arrangements and investigating the clash.
This confrontation highlights growing voter unrest and political tension in Bihar. The Lakhisarai incident adds to concerns over election-day violence and the need for stronger coordination between parties and law enforcement.
