Odisha courts granted bail to 114 candidates arrested in connection with the SI Exam Scam, marking a major shift in the ongoing investigation.

Each accused secured bail by furnishing a surety of ₹50,000 and two guarantors.

Earlier, police intercepted the candidates en route from Odisha to Vijayawada, where they planned to appear for the Sub-Inspector recruitment exam in Hyderabad. Authorities launched the arrests as part of a broader crackdown on fraudulent activities tied to the selection process.

Investigators identified Munna Mohanty as the prime conspirator. He allegedly orchestrated the scam by recruiting fake candidates and manipulating exam logistics. Due to the severity of his involvement, the court rejected his bail plea along with eight others.

As the case unfolds, the SI Exam Scam continues to spark public outrage and demands for reform. Citizens and activists have raised concerns about the transparency of competitive examinations. In response, officials have intensified efforts to dismantle the network behind the scam.

Legal experts emphasized that the bail orders do not signal closure. Instead, they reflect procedural fairness while the judiciary maintains a firm stance on key accused. The rejection of bail for Mohanty and others underscores the gravity of the charges.

Meanwhile, police have reaffirmed their commitment to a thorough investigation. They aim to ensure accountability and restore trust in the recruitment system. The scam has prompted calls for stricter verification protocols and enhanced oversight in future exams.
