India Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill has joined a growing list of public figures speaking on the ongoing student protests linked to the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.

In a message shared on Instagram, the cricketer appealed for compassion, mutual respect and a fair educational environment, saying India’s youth deserve every opportunity to learn and succeed.

Gill’s statement comes as demonstrations led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) continue across the country, with students demanding accountability over alleged examination irregularities and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protests have intensified in recent days, drawing support from several celebrities, athletes and public figures.

Shubman Gill calls for empathy and fair opportunities

Sharing his thoughts on Instagram Stories, Gill said young people should have every chance to pursue their aspirations and praised students who are raising their voices peacefully.

“As a young Indian, I believe our generation deserves every opportunity to learn, dream and shape the future we all aspire to. I have immense respect for every young person who believes in making their voice heard peacefully,” Gill wrote.

He stressed that education plays a crucial role in nation-building and urged all stakeholders to keep students’ welfare at the centre of the discussion.

“Education has the power to shape our nation’s future. I hope we move forward with compassion, mutual respect and keeping the best interests of every student at heart. For India’s future,” he added.

Growing support from public figures

Gill’s message follows similar appeals from several personalities who have expressed concern over the ongoing protests and called for dialogue, accountability and peaceful resolution. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also urged authorities to protect students’ dreams by ensuring that examination paper leaks do not undermine years of hard work and sacrifice.

Protests continue across India

The student movement has gained momentum during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with demonstrations taking place in multiple cities. Protesters continue to seek greater accountability over the alleged paper leak and examination management, while authorities have maintained that necessary steps are being taken to address the issue.

As more influential voices join the conversation, the focus remains on ensuring transparency, fairness and confidence in India’s examination system.
