Odisha’s coastal zones are under intensified security measures after the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.
Joint patrols by the Indian Navy and marine police are focusing on the Devi River mouth, within the Astaranga marine police jurisdiction, to thwart any unlawful activities.
Fishermen operating in the area are being subjected to rigorous identity checks, including verification of Aadhaar cards, while advisories urge them to report suspicious individuals or activities. A senior police official emphasised the heightened vigilance and cooperation required, stating, “We are committed to safeguarding the coastal zones with regular patrolling and strict monitoring of vessel movements.”
Authorities have provided contact numbers to ensure seamless reporting of any incidents, and security forces are maintaining a high alert status across key areas. These measures underscore the determination to prevent potential threats and safeguard the region’s peace.
