Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chairman of SEBI, rang the ceremonial bell at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) to officially launch World Investor Week (WIW) 2025.
Alongside him, Srinivas Injeti, Chairman of NSE; Amarjeet Singh, SEBI Whole-Time Member; and Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of NSE, participated in the event.
Organized jointly by SEBI and NSE, WIW 2025 took place from October 6–12 under the banner of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). This year, the campaign emphasized two critical themes: “Fraud & Scam Prevention” and “Basics of Investing.” Accordingly, both institutions rolled out investor-awareness campaigns across television and print media. These initiatives used relatable stories to highlight common risks such as impersonation, guaranteed returns, unsolicited tips, and fake apps.
Moreover, SEBI and NSE introduced digital learning games and interactive awareness drives to engage youth and first-time investors. These tools not only made financial education more practical but also encouraged critical thinking and scam detection.
During the launch, Chairman Pandey urged all stakeholders to empower investors with foundational knowledge. He emphasized the importance of responsible investing rooted in facts rather than trends. Furthermore, he praised NSE’s proactive efforts to deepen investor education.
In continuation of this message, Chairman Injeti described WIW as a global call to action in the age of digital transformation. Similarly, CEO Chauhan reaffirmed NSE’s commitment to investor protection and education, stating, “Every week is World Investor Week at NSE.”
As a result of these efforts, India’s investor base has grown to over 12 crore unique participants. This growth reflects a rising middle class and expanding financial inclusion. Through WIW 2025, NSE aims to sustain year-round education and fraud prevention, fully aligned with SEBI’s principles-based regulation and IOSCO’s global framework.
