The Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI), Odisha, launched a 15-day Live Demonstration Programme on Tribal Art and Craft at the Odisha State Tribal Museum in Bhubaneswar.
The event runs from February 7 to 21, 2026.
The programme highlights traditional tribal art forms and provides a platform for artisans to showcase their skills. ITDA Gunupur (Rayagada) sponsored five artisans specialising in Idtal and Saura paintings, while ITDA Kaptipada, Udala (Mayurbhanj) nominated five artisans from the Mahali tribe to demonstrate bamboo craft.
Visitors can witness live sessions featuring indigenous motifs, cultural narratives, and sustainable bamboo craftsmanship. The initiative aims to promote and preserve Odisha’s tribal heritage while offering livelihood support and wider exposure to artisans.
SCSTRTI Director Sudhakar Sabar emphasised that such programmes strengthen awareness of tribal traditions and safeguard cultural identity. The event is expected to attract students, researchers, tourists, and art enthusiasts.
