SCB Medical College and Hospital narrowly avoided a major mishap after a short circuit sparked a fire in the non-trauma care unit’s electric board.
The incident created panic as hundreds of patients were undergoing treatment in the ward.
Firefighters rushed to the spot and quickly brought the situation under control before the blaze could spread. Hospital staff and patients breathed a sigh of relief as the timely intervention prevented a possible disaster.
Witnesses said smoke emerged from the electric board, triggering an alarm among attendants and medical staff. Fire personnel acted swiftly, ensuring that the flames did not reach critical medical equipment or patient areas.
The hospital administration confirmed that no casualties occurred. Authorities have initiated checks to identify the cause of the short circuit and prevent similar incidents in the future.
A devastating fire broke out in the early hours of Monday in the Trauma Care Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Hospital, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 patients.
