Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty’s wait for a title stretched further as the Indian men’s doubles pair lost in the final of the Thailand Open 2026 on Sunday, May 17.

The duo went down to Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin in straight games, 12‑21, 23‑25, at Bangkok. The Indonesians completed their fairytale run with the crown, defeating Satwik and Chirag for the first time in five meetings.

Satwik and Chirag struggled to match the pace and precision of Carnando and Marthin throughout the contest. The Indians trailed early in the first game and failed to recover. In the second, they fought hard, saving multiple points, but the Indonesians held their nerve to close out the match.

This defeat extended Satwik and Chirag’s title drought to two years. Their last triumph came at the Thailand Open itself, making the loss even more painful. Despite consistent performances and appearances in finals, the duo has not managed to convert opportunities into titles.
