The Rural Development Department of Odisha convened its monthly review meeting at the Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, focusing on the progress of critical infrastructure projects across the state. Chaired by Commissioner-cum-Secretary Smt. Yamini Sarangi, the meeting brought together senior officials and district-level officers to evaluate ongoing initiatives and ensure their timely execution while maintaining high-quality standards.
The meeting, held in the department’s conference hall, saw participation from district-level officials via virtual platforms, ensuring comprehensive representation from all corners of Odisha. The agenda centred on reviewing the status of key schemes, including the NABARD-Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojana, Kothabadi, Mukhyamantri Janashunani, and other flagship rural development programs. These initiatives aim to bolster rural connectivity, improve infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life in Odisha’s villages.
Smt. Yamini Shadangi, in her address, issued firm directives to maintain superior construction quality and adhere to project timelines. Emphasising a zero-tolerance policy for deviations in construction standards, she urged officials to prioritise both efficiency and excellence. “Every project under the Rural Development Department must be completed within the stipulated timeframe while ensuring uncompromised quality,” she stated. She further instructed officials to work diligently toward meeting financial targets, underscoring the importance of fiscal discipline in achieving the department’s objectives.
The review covered the progress of ongoing projects, with district officials providing detailed updates on their respective regions. Discussions highlighted the department’s efforts to strengthen rural connectivity, ensuring seamless transportation networks across Odisha’s diverse terrain. Projects under schemes like PMGSY and Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojana are pivotal in connecting remote villages to essential services, fostering economic growth, and improving accessibility.

Among the attendees were Additional Secretary (In-Charge) Smt. Geetarani Pattnaik, Special Secretaries, Sarbeshwar Singh, Smt. Sanghamitra Satapathy, and Smt. Babita Mohanty, along with Chief Engineers Prasanna Kumar Sahu and Pradeep Kumar Jena. Their presence underscored the department’s commitment to a collaborative approach in driving rural development. District-level officers, joining virtually, provided critical insights into the ground realities of project implementation, ensuring a holistic review.
