During zero hour, the Odisha Assembly was rocked by the Polavaram project issue, leading to chaos and the subsequent adjournment of the session until 1600 hours by Speaker Surama Padhi.
The uproar began when Congress members entered the well of the house, protesting that the project would displace thousands of tribals across several villages in Odisha.
Congress Legislature Party leader Ram Chandra Kadam and Tara Prasad Bahinipati escalated the situation, with Kadam standing on the reporter’s table and Bahinipati attempting to seize the speaker’s microphone.
Concurrently, BJD members demanded the retraction of a BJP minister’s statement calling for the arrest of Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik.
The combined protests from Congress and BJD members led to an uncontrollable uproar, prompting the speaker to adjourn the house until 1600 hours.
