To promote financial independence among women, the Odisha government announced its plan to provide Rs 10 lakh interest-free loans for members of women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs), recognised under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also holds the Women and Child Development portfolio, made the announcement while interacting with beneficiaries of the Subhadra scheme. Parida emphasised that the state government is committed to transforming Lakhpati Didis into Crorepati Didis through sustained financial support and entrepreneurship.
The move, in partnership with the Union Government’s ongoing initiative, aims to bolster income generation for women by providing capital support without interest. Beneficiaries will be encouraged to submit utilisation reports, and successful models will be showcased on the official Subhadra portal to inspire replication and innovation.
This strategic intervention is expected to redefine economic opportunities for women across Odisha, fostering inclusive growth and grassroots development.
