The Railway Protection Force (RPF), East Central Railway, is taking firm measures to address recent acts of vandalism at Madhubani Railway Station. On 10th February 2025, passengers caused significant damage by breaking 73 glass windows of AC coaches on Train Number 12561, Swatantrata Senani Express (Jaynagar to New Delhi), leading to panic among the passengers.
In response, the RPF swiftly registered a case under Sections 145(b), 146, 153, and 174(a) of the Railways Act with Crime No. 168/2025. A special team was formed to identify the perpetrators, and through diligent investigation and technical evidence, a juvenile was apprehended and confessed to being involved in the incident. The juvenile expressed remorse for his actions.
The enquiry continues as the RPF works to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in similar incidents. The RPF emphasizes that railway property is a national asset, and any act of vandalism is illegal. Security measures have been increased in coordination with the State Government and Government Railway Police (GRP) authorities to ensure the safety of passengers and protect railway infrastructure.
Passengers and the public are urged to refrain from engaging in unlawful activities that endanger public safety and damage national assets. The RPF remains committed to taking strict action against those involved in such destructive behaviours.
