A tragic road mishap near Kimhiriya Pond in the Fatehgarh police station area claimed the life of a minor girl and left her sister critically injured.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday around 10:00 AM.
The victims, Loni Behera (12) and Lima Behera (10), daughters of Dillip Behera from Padmabati village, were cycling home after delivering milk to their relative’s house. A cement-laden pickup truck (registration number OD 02 CJ 8490) lost control and struck the sisters, throwing them onto the roadside.
Villagers rushed to their aid and took them to the community health center in Bhapur. Sadly, Loni was declared dead upon arrival by medical staff, while Lima is currently receiving treatment for severe injuries.
The villagers detained the truck and its driver, Sunia Behera, and informed the authorities. Fatehgarh police seized the vehicle and took the driver into custody. Dillip Behera has filed a formal complaint, and investigations are underway.
