Model Rhiya Ahir has addressed the backlash over her decision to enter Bigg Boss 20, saying she is aware that some people believe she is using her newfound popularity for fame.
Rhiya shot to prominence last month after a video and photograph of her blocking a police van during a Mumbai protest went viral. Her act turned her into a social media talking point and brought her considerable attention.
With her entry into Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 20 now confirmed, reactions have been divided. In a recent interview, the 27-year-old acknowledged the criticism and explained why she decided to participate in the reality show.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Rhiya said her decision was partly driven by her curiosity about how the reality show operates behind the scenes.
“I have always been a curious person. I still am,” she said, recalling how her mother and sister used to watch Bigg Boss when she was younger.
Rhiya said she often wondered about the production process and how so many people inside the show were managed. She added that she now wants to experience that environment herself.
‘People are again in two minds’
Rhiya also addressed the criticism surrounding her Bigg Boss entry. She said the backlash has led some people to question whether her participation in the show was primarily intended to gain fame.
“With all the hate that is coming through, people are again in two minds ki yeh to fame ke liye kiya tha,” she said.
Rather than asking people to accept her explanation, Rhiya said she wants viewers to form their own opinion after watching her on the show.
“Don’t listen to what I am saying, don’t listen to what someone else is trying to narrate about me. See for yourself,” she said.
She added that she considers herself entertaining and wants to show that side of her personality to the audience.
From viral protest moment to Bigg Boss 20
Rhiya became widely known after she intervened during a Mumbai protest linked to the Cockroach Janata Party’s agitation over an alleged NEET paper leak. Images of her standing in front of a police van carrying protesters quickly circulated online.
The viral moment transformed her into a recognisable social media personality and fuelled speculation about her future in entertainment.
Her move to Bigg Boss 20 has now added another chapter to that journey, with the reality show expected to give viewers a closer look at her personality beyond the viral protest footage.
