Jagatsinghpur: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack today convicted the former Revenue Inspector (RI) in Cuttack district in a bribery case and sentenced him to two years in jail.
The accused has been identified as Jhata Kishore Hati, Ex-RI (Retired), Padmapur, Ersama Tahasil, Dist-Jagatsinghpur.
Hati was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988 for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant for submitting an enquiry report for the issue of RoR (Patta) in respect of agriculture land.
Hati was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 and in default of payment of the fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 6 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act,1988.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Jhata Kishore Hati following his conviction.
