The repair and conservation work on the historic Srimandir Ratna Bhandar, the treasure vault of Puri’s 12th-century Jagannath Temple, is set to be temporarily halted for four days starting March 31.
The decision was made to accommodate the anticipated surge of devotees during this period, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted visit for them.
The ongoing restoration efforts, focused on replacing rusted beams and repairing damaged stones, aim to preserve the architectural integrity and historical significance of the treasure vault. The Ratna Bhandar, a symbol of Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, remains central to the temple’s legacy and spiritual significance.
The work will resume on April 4, 2025, following the end of the pause. Officials have assured that the delay will not impact the overall timeline of the restoration project.
