Pre-sales for Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated cinematic adaptation Ramayana: Part One opened on Dussehra, a full 15 days ahead of its scheduled Diwali theatrical release on November 5, 2026.
Producer Namit Malhotra’s magnum opus has demonstrated solid initial momentum, crossing 1.36 lakh ticket sales worth ₹7.74 crore with 11 days remaining before release. However, trade analysts note that its advance booking velocity remains noticeably slower compared to Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar: The Revenge earlier this year.
Advance Booking Comparison: Ramayana vs Dhurandhar 2
Dhurandhar: The Revenge utilized an unprecedented early advance sales window, opening paid preview bookings nearly two weeks prior to its March 19 release. The Ranveer Singh-starrer generated an extraordinary surge, selling roughly 1.4 lakh paid preview tickets in just 24 hours—including 90,000 across major national cinema chains alone.
In contrast, Ramayana: Part One took four days to sell 1.36 lakh tickets (including 87,000 in major national chains) across its primary Hindi version. While Dhurandhar 2 minted ₹40 crore from paid previews alone and ultimately achieved over ₹200 crore in global pre-sales before crossing ₹1,800 crore worldwide, Ramayana is seeking to accelerate its pacing as regional dub negotiations conclude.
Regional Distribution and Production Details
While full advance bookings for the Hindi version are operational across nearly 1,000 screens, regional pre-sales in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam are still opening gradually due to ongoing multiplex agreements. Despite limited screen counts (under 100 screens initially), the Kannada dub reported center occupancies reaching up to 72% for morning shows.
Jointly produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, DNEG, and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is structured as a two-part epic starring:
- Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama
- Sai Pallavi as Sita
- Yash as Ravana
- Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman
- Ravie Dubey as Lakshman
Global distribution outside India will be managed by Sony Pictures, while Dharma Productions will distribute the film across the domestic Hindi market alongside a planned worldwide IMAX release. Part Two is slated for a Diwali 2027 theatrical release.
