Actor Rajkummar Rao has sparked discussion on social media after deleting an Instagram comment in which he responded to criticism over his participation in last year’s ‘Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai’ song.

The deleted reply went viral through screenshots shared by users, with many debating the actor’s reference to “pressure.”

What Did Rajkummar Rao Say?

The controversy began after Rao posted a message supporting dialogue and peace amid the ongoing student protests over the alleged NEET paper leak.

A user commented that the actor had lost credibility after appearing in the ‘Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai’ song alongside several Bollywood celebrities.

In his now-deleted response, Rao wrote:

“I can never sell my soul brother. And one song does not define who I am, what I stand for or what my ideologies in life are. You can never know the pressure. I stand for what is right and what keeps us united as human beings… Hopefully one day I’ll be able to earn back your respect.”

Although the phrase “You can never know the pressure” quickly drew attention online, Rao did not explain what he meant or state that he had been compelled to participate in the song. He later deleted the comment without further clarification.

Social Media Reacts

Screenshots of the deleted reply circulated widely across social media, leading to speculation about the context of Rao’s remark. While some users interpreted it as a reference to pressure surrounding the song, others pointed out that the actor never explicitly made such a claim.

As of now, Rao has not issued any further statement explaining the deleted comment.

Rajkummar Rao Voices Support for Students

In his Instagram post, Rao urged both protesters and authorities to choose dialogue over confrontation amid the ongoing protests over alleged examination irregularities.

“When young people feel unheard, it is a reminder that society must listen. Every voice deserves to be heard with dignity, fairness and respect,” he wrote.

He added that while students should be allowed to express themselves responsibly, authorities should respond with empathy and openness.

“Real and lasting change is built through conversation, not confrontation. All of us collectively want one thing: growth for our nation, and the foundation for that growth is fair education.”

Backdrop of the Controversy

The actor’s post came after large-scale demonstrations in Delhi demanding accountability over the alleged NEET paper leak and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Several members of the film industry have also appealed for calm while expressing concern over the situation.
