The President of India administered the oath of office to Shri Raj Kumar Goyal as the Chief Information Commissioner in the Central Information Commission during a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on December 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.


Firstly, the ceremony marked a significant milestone for the Commission, which continues to play a vital role in promoting transparency and accountability in governance. Moreover, Shri Goyal’s appointment arrives at a crucial time when the Commission is intensifying efforts to strengthen the implementation of the Right to Information Act across the country.

Secondly, Raj Kumar Goyal, a seasoned administrator with decades of public service experience, brings proven leadership skills. Consequently, his tenure is expected to improve the Commission’s efficiency in handling appeals and complaints related to information disclosure.

Furthermore, the oath-taking ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan emphasised the importance of the Commission’s mandate in empowering citizens with access to information. In addition, officials present at the event highlighted the Chief Information Commissioner’s role in upholding democratic values and ensuring accountability within government institutions.
