The Odisha government on Wednesday announced the establishment of a new police district, Rairangpur, through the bifurcation of the existing Mayurbhanj Police District.
This strategic move aims to improve effective policing and efficient public service delivery across the region.
The newly created Rairangpur Police District will be headquartered in Rairangpur and will comprise two Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), one based in Rairangpur and the other in Karanjia. It will oversee 14 police stations, including Rairangpur, Rairangpur Town, Badampahada, Gorumaishianai, Bisoi, Tiring, Bahalda, Jamda, Karanjia, Thakurmunda, Mahuldiha, Karuan, Ghagarbheda, and Jashipur.
Additionally, the district will manage 5 outposts and 2 beat houses to ensure comprehensive coverage. With the addition of Rairangpur, Odisha now boasts 32 police districts, including Rourkela and Berhampur.
This development is expected to strengthen law enforcement and enhance public safety in the region, marking a significant step forward in Odisha’s administrative and security framework.
