The India–Pakistan T20 World Cup match in Colombo on February 15 faces a strong rain threat, with forecasts predicting heavy showers and thunderstorms during match hours.

Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology issued a special bulletin warning that a low-pressure system may develop over the southeastern Bay of Bengal around February 15. The advisory urged the public to monitor official updates. Weather models suggest a 65–70% chance of rain in Colombo, especially between late afternoon and evening, raising fears of interruptions or even a washout.

India and Pakistan, both unbeaten so far, meet for the ninth time in T20 World Cup history. India holds a 7–1 record, while Pakistan last defeated India in 2022. The clash at R. Premadasa Stadium carries huge significance for Group A standings and Super 8 qualification.

Local forecasts indicate cloudy skies, strong winds, and intermittent showers throughout Sunday. Heavy rainfall is expected between 4 pm and 6 pm, with lighter showers likely during match hours. Organisers and fans remain anxious, as a washout would force both teams to share points, potentially altering the qualification race.

The looming weather threat adds drama to one of cricket’s most anticipated rivalries. Spectators and broadcasters are closely tracking updates, hoping the rain stays away to allow a full contest.
