The Ministry of Railways has issued a revised directive on emergency quota (EQ) requests, mandating that all such applications be submitted at least a day prior to the train’s departure.
This update comes in light of the ministry’s decision to prepare reservation charts eight hours before departure.
As per the new guidelines, EQ requests for trains departing between 0000 hours and 1400 hours must be submitted by 12:00 PM on the previous day. For trains leaving between 1401 hours and 2359 hours, requests must be submitted by 4:00 PM a day prior.
The ministry emphasized that no same-day requests will be entertained. For trains scheduled to depart on Sundays or public holidays, EQ requests must be submitted during office hours on the last working day before the journey.
The circular highlighted the high volume of EQ requests from VIPs, government departments, and railway officials, and stressed the importance of adhering to deadlines to avoid reservation delays and disruptions in train departures.
Railway officials have been urged to verify the genuineness of the requester and follow existing allotment guidelines strictly to ensure transparency and efficiency in the system.
