Congress leader Rahul Gandhi strongly criticised the central government for failing to tackle worsening air quality across North India. He highlighted the growing health risks for children and described the situation as a “health emergency.”
In his social media post, Gandhi emphasised that families feel “exhausted, scared, and angry” as pollution levels repeatedly reach hazardous levels. He added, “Every mother I meet tells me the same thing: her child is growing up breathing toxic air.”

He demanded a strict, enforceable national action plan, stressing that clean air is a basic right of every child. He declared, “Modi ji, India’s children are choking in front of us. His remarks come as the air quality index (AQI) across Delhi‑NCR and other North Indian cities consistently reaches severe levels, sparking widespread concern among residents and health experts.
