Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused the Election Commission of avoiding scrutiny over alleged voter fraud, asserting that the data he cites is from the EC’s own records.
“I don’t need to sign any affidavit. It’s their data — they can check their own website,” he told reporters outside Parliament after Opposition MPs from the INDIA bloc attempted to march to the EC office.
The protest, linked to alleged irregularities in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and ongoing electoral roll revisions in Bihar, was blocked by Delhi Police, who said no permission had been sought. Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Akhilesh Yadav, and other leaders were detained during the march.
Gandhi claimed the issue was “for the Constitution and One Man One Vote,” adding that similar frauds had occurred beyond Karnataka’s Bangalore Central seat. “It will be very difficult for the Election Commission to hide now,” he said.
The EC later offered to meet a delegation of 30 MPs, but Gandhi criticised the refusal to allow all protesting MPs to submit documents, calling it a sign of fear.
